Icing remains one of the challenges causing high costs and safety issues for blades. This workshop will be moderated by a Paint and Lacquer Technology expert from the Fraunhofer Institute and is offering
the opportunity to discover the advancement of anti-icing and ice-phobic materials, coating durability, and isotope materials that can reduce energy consumption. Participants will discuss further around
case studies regarding anti-icing vs de-icing, measuring and evaluation wind farm’s particular needs, and solutions to minimize time to get rotor blades up and running after down time.

Fatigue damages are crucial to tackle in order to extend blade lifetime and reduce costs of operation. With the blades getting longer and thinner, significant challenges in regards to fatigue design and
verification need to be tackled. This workshop will offer an interactive discussion between participants to envision solutions toward lifetime durability especially in the case of large blades:
What are the effects of fatigue? What are the main cost drivers? How fatigue influences blade design? What are the capabilities of composite materials under fatigue loading?

The aim of the workshop is to develop proposals for improved material resource efficiency and recyclability for those parties involved in the life cycle of the rotor blade product:
• What are the tasks of the actors?
• Which business processes are relevant for efficient use of material resources?
• Which technological processes are to be improved?
• Which tools can help to support these processes?
